These. These are a beautiful thing. There is a lot to be said for a good pair of denim- they're like the sisterhood of the travelling pants denim; they fit perfectly and feel magical, except I don't have to share them with anyone. These babies are mine. But I highly recommend you make your way to H&M and try a pair on...and the best part you ask? They're $20.00 regular price! I think they are quite a flattering length (maybe I'm bias because I'm short and they dont need to be hemmed), they aren't quite skinny jeans, but maybe more of a tailored boyfriend style jean. Regardless of the "scientific" name of denim, if you will, this style is amazing!
A good pair of denim is a wardrobe staple. I always like to take basic pieces and amp it up to create a unique, fashionable look. It's like what my dad always told me about cooking: "you start with something simple, and amp it up by adding different ingredients"... except I don't cook, I put outfits together.
I paired together 2 basic garments: light wash denim with a plain white t-shirt I picked up at Michael's arts and crafts store for about 5 dollars. I used adobe illustrator to create an iron on 'logo' saying DO EPIC CHIC (which I saw on pinterest), and paired the basic duo with a dusty rose coloured kimono by BCBG that I purchased from Beacons Closet (stay tuned for the remainder of my New York trip...I promise you, it will happen), a curated thrift shop in Brooklyn. To give this outfit a slight boho feel, I put my hair in a side braid, and topped it off with my black wool hat (literally), and lots of dainty jewelry.
I really like this look overall. It's not too flashy, and has the right amount of colour (for me, anyways). I hardly wear colour (even in the summer), but I think the dusty rose and light denim compliment each other quite well. And of course no summer look is complete without a large structured bag and massive grey (retro inspired) sunglasses!
